A “new” Journal of Renal Nutrition
Article Outline
Twelve years after its launch, the Journal of Renal Nutrition is about to jump into a new era. Indeed, it gradually came closer and closer to the International Society of Renal Nutrition & Metabolism (ISRN&M) thanks to biannual meetings and scientific researchers of the Society who largely participated to the JREN by submitting their research for publication. As a result, the JREN became a welcomed source of medical and scientific information for all involved in the dietetic, nutritional, and metabolic fields in renal disease. JREN articles have been regularly quoted in major renal journals, as well as in the most prestigious grant applications, including those of the NIH and EGP.
By increasing its circulation through the members of the ISRN&M, the JREN will become more accessible to renal nutritionists and scientists worldwide, who were not previously familiar with this publication. This circulation will also result in more Internet links to the JREN server. Furthermore, every 2 years, the JREN will publish the ISRN&M meeting proceedings in a more complete way, including both general and dietitian programs and abstracts. Thus a complete vision will be offered to all scientists involved in the nutrition and metabolic field in renal disease through this single specialized publication.
The future of the JREN now depends on the interest of scientists to submit important papers for a growing number of readers. Indeed, in the last 10 years, nutrition has been universally recognized as a major cornerstone in renal disease treatment, for both the patient with chronic kidney disease and for the patient receiving maintenance dialysis therapy. The JREN will offer academic reviews, clinical research articles, and patient education programs to provide the renal care professional with state-of-the-art information in all of these domains.
We have expanded the Editorial Board to ensure international participation as author and reader to this unique and unprecedented Journal of Renal Nutrition.
